The toothless dog
Defending his home
I guard my tree house
My oak hideout

The flood may always come from fear of living
Or from the pool of tears at the roots
Always ignoring that
Volcanoes may
Erupt one day
And cover everything
That pokes their path
And leave all trace
Of mankind
For the wiser

Deacons and Darwin struggle
gnarling as gutter ghosts
Excavating every inch
unfit to chop this tree
Unable to stop those tears
And praying that
The fresco dog won't bite
When trying to open up
The door they'll say
It's just another
False alarm

An empire fall

Because we are prepared to survive,
